Water Harvesting Structures 

Nomination

  • Absence of proper water harvesting structure to protect depleting water table.
  • Frequent soil erosions decrease soil fertility which affects crop yields.
  • Need of watershed areas to recharge our water bodies/surface water.
  • Lack of technical knowledge for effective implementation of plans.

Achievements

  • Constructed 339 Amrut Sarovars with 3000-5000 cubic meters water holding capacity.
  • Developed Amrut Sarovar portal to generate technical parameters of site.
  • Traversed the watershed area to examine feasibility of the site selection.
  • Formed joint teams of both technical and administrative officials by district level officers.
