Nomination
- Accidents of/by stray animals on roads, parks, public places, etc.
- Stray animals in public places cause disturbance in traffic.
- Previously, the Urban local bodies had no proper arrangements to rehabilitate stray cattle.
- Ensuring proper operation and maintenance in terms of infrastructure, balanced diet, medical facilities etc.
Achievements
- A total of 521 cow shelters are being operated by ULBs, having the capacity to rehabilitate 94379 animals.
- At present, serving more than 75000 stray animals.
- Identification and maintenance of records for rehabilitated stray cows were done.
- Management of fodder etc., for the cows, kept is catered by the Urban Local Bodies, and NGOs.
