Building an Effective System for Women’s Safety
Problem
- No instant Safety and security application for women to reach out to the Police Department
- The difficulty for the police in locating and contacting victims
- The inability of women and girls to find or locate the unsafe areas
- Most women of various ages, to this day, are being subjected to violence, domestic abuse, and rape.
- 65% of Indian men believe women should tolerate violence to keep the family together, and women sometimes deserve to be beaten.
Solution
- Sharing the current location with a picture of the front and back camera with police and emergency contacts
- Provision of an SOS button to dial the predefined emergency number
- In case no emergency number is fed, by default, mail and Messages go to ICCC/PD
- Sending images of the stalkers, sharing the location and lodging complaints through the mobile app
- Attaching the audio and video clips to be shared with police and emergency contacts
Outcomes
- Providing a safe environment through smartphones as most women carry smartphones everywhere
- Increased safety while traveling as they have the Nirbhaya Sagar app installed on their smartphones
- Seeing safer routes by which women can travel and escape the unsafe routes
- Complaining about lost things or criminal activity with video and pictures.
- It is a Women centric app, so the data, i.e., Mobile Numbers, names, addresses, etc., of females in this APP is hosted in Sagar ICCC servers for security purposes.
