Andhra Pradesh Integrated Clean Energy Policy 2024 – New & Renewable Energy Development Corporation of Andhra Pradesh Ltd.

Andhra Pradesh Integrated Clean Energy Policy 2024
Problem
- Fragmentation across solar, wind, PSP, and hydrogen policies created regulatory confusion and inefficiencies.
- Andhra Pradesh’s large renewable energy potential (solar: 38.5 GWp; wind: 123 GW; PSP: 43 GW) remained underutilized due to poor coordination.
- Lack of grid stability and round-the-clock (RTC) power options from renewable sources hindered DISCOMs and industries.
- Absence of cohesive support for emerging sectors like battery storage and green hydrogen.
- Complex and time-consuming approval processes discouraged private sector investment and innovation.
Solution
- Andhra Pradesh Integrated Clean Energy (ICE) Policy 2024 was launched to unify all clean energy development under a single framework.
- Designation of NREDCAP as the State Nodal Agency, with powers to oversee applications, incentives, land allocation, and grid coordination.
- Operationalization of a Single Window Portal for project applications, resource mapping, and policy-linked incentives.
- Promotion of Distributed Energy Resources, Green Hydrogen Export Hubs, and Renewable Energy Manufacturing Zones.
- Clear timelines for commissioning, bank guarantees, and grid access to increase project transparency and execution pace.
Outcomes
- Revived over 3,000 MW of legacy solar and wind projects through policy migration.
- Initiated 12 GW of Pumped Storage Power (PSP) development across 10 sites.
- Attracted ₹50,000 Crore worth of clean energy investments within five months of policy notification.
- Enabled large-scale adoption of RTC energy supply models and open access frameworks.
- Positioned Andhra Pradesh as a front-runner in green hydrogen, RE manufacturing, and clean energy employment generation.
