24 Days 24 Awareness Activities at Ayushman Arogya Mandir – National Health Mission, Jharkhand

24 Days 24 Awareness Activities at Ayushman Arogya Mandir
Problem
- Low community awareness about government health schemes, programme benefits, and services available at Ayushman Arogya Mandirs.
- Difficulty in reaching hilly, remote, and hard-to-reach areas with reliable health information and services.
- Limited understanding of national and state health programmes among tribal and primitive tribal communities.
- Routine health-day activities sometimes overlapped, reducing the effectiveness of awareness efforts at the facility level.
- Many people preferred secondary and tertiary facilities due to limited awareness of primary care services nearby.
Solution
- Implemented a structured “24 Days, 24 Awareness Activities” monthly calendar at Ayushman Arogya Mandirs.
- Dedicated each day to specific health schemes, services, or programme benefits for focused community awareness.
- Aligned awareness activities with national health days and routine facility-level services to improve relevance.
- Organised outreach camps to extend services and information to remote, hilly, and underserved communities.
- Trained CHOs, ANMs, and ASHAs to communicate in local languages for better community understanding and participation.
Outcomes
- Increased community footfall and participation at Ayushman Arogya Mandirs.
- Improved awareness of national health programmes and state health schemes among local communities.
- Primitive tribal communities were sensitised about health services, schemes, and available benefits.
- Ayushman Arogya Mandirs became better recognised as the first point of contact for primary healthcare.
- The model was implemented across blocks and districts of Jharkhand, strengthening outreach and replicability.
