Towards Net Zero Kuppam Constituency – Decarbonisation through Distributed Renewable Energy

Problem

  • Reduce dependence on fossil-intensive grid electricity by expanding local solar generation across households, institutions, agriculture, and industry.
  • Solarise 36,459 agricultural services through approximately 141 MW of PM-KUSUM feeder-level capacity.
  • Use smart meters and rooftop solar in Nadimuru to verify household generation, consumption, export, and bill savings.
  • Reduce distribution losses and local network loading by placing distributed energy resources closer to consumers and feeders.
  • Use the planned 50 MW/100 MWh battery system to absorb daytime solar and support peak and non-solar-hour demand.

Solution

  • Conduct ground surveys of roofs, land, consumer services, feeders, transformers, substations, and existing renewable assets.
  • Verify scheme eligibility and beneficiary lists for PM-KUSUM, PM Surya Ghar, hostels, and household solarisation.
  • Complete hosting-capacity, voltage, protection, evacuation, and metering studies with Kuppam RESCO and APSPDCL.
  • NREDCAP executes procurement and installation, followed by inspection, synchronisation, commissioning, and asset handover.
  • Use smart-meter and BESS data to track energy yield, consumer savings, peak reduction, losses, and avoided emissions.

Outcomes

  • A coordinated portfolio of approximately 332.146 MW of commissioned and work-in-progress solar and storage-related capacity has been identified.
  • PM-KUSUM feeder solarisation covers 36,459 agricultural services with approximately 141 MW of proposed solar capacity.
  • Nadimuru establishes a 98-household smart-metered solar model for verifying units generated, imported, exported, and saved.
  • Ground-survey, grid-integration, metering, and monitoring requirements are now defined across households, hostels, institutions, agriculture, and industry.
  • Consumer savings, loss reduction, and emissions benefits will be reported from verified pre- and post-commissioning operational data.
