Project VEERANGANA
Nomination
- Presence of fear among girls due to gender-based crimes and abuses.
- Unpleasant situations faced by girls due to cheap comments, eve-teasing, harassment, etc.
- Low self-esteem, confidence & self-defending skill of girls amplify their voice & action against gender-based crimes.
- Police, child line & various emergency services could not possibly touch each & every victim before the occurrence of the case
Achievements
- Skilled up adolescent girls on mixed martial arts & self-defense techniques & crime reporting skills.
- Oriented the girls on laws & legislations related to the protection of girls and also made them aware of emergency numbers required during risk.
- Generated a local resource pool of above 100 Local Trainers, which will be a sustainability factor in carrying forward this mission
- Used IEC materials, including short visuals, posters, etc, to mobilize the girls & parents to get involved with this mission
