Problem

  • Family responsibilities such as cleaning, cooking, and bringing up children prevent them from becoming successful entrepreneurs.
  • The biggest problem of a woman entrepreneur is the social attitude and the constraints.
  • Financial challenges.
  • Due to a lack of education, the majority of women are unaware of technological developments.
  • The structure has to be sustainable and made with eco-friendly materials.

Solution

  • Modular and green solution for an exclusive showroom with a central garden and seating space.
  • Sustainable livelihood opportunities for rural women around the year with utmost respect.
  • A sense of social inclusion is given to the women members to free themselves from the closed aura of a room.
  • Paradip, being an industrial hotspot with the potential for high footfall of customers, has been gifted a great cyclone-proof plaza.
  • A single chain on the basis of the sales of handcrafted products as well as delicacies.

Outcomes

  • The real essence of Women’s Empowerment can be seen among the rural SHG women.
  • A rich and exclusive market platform has been provided to rural women entrepreneurs.
  • The Portside Sales and Café, Paradip, has been serving an essence of Eco-tourism centre catered by the Rural Women Artisans.
  • A proper supply as well as value chain has been established, combining 420 Women Self Help Groups.
  • A first-of-its-kind, entirely run by women’s café that gives women a place to showcase their talents and make a livelihood.
