Improving Management of Litigation

Introduction:

Litigation Information Tracking and Evaluation System (LITES) has been implemented for Justice department to improve the management of litigation.

Problem:

Manual monitoring of the progress of litigation posed as a problem. Also, efficiency in handling cases was not monitored. Due to manual process the Judicial process was delayed.

Solution:

Lawyer allocation, OIC allocation, cases documentations, notice etc. in online mode was brought forward. Also, end to end integration and comprehensive management of litigation was enabled.

Outcomes:

Till date 5,20,584 cases are registered and about 2,05,845 cases are pending in Courts. 298 units/ HOD’s under 52 Administrative Departments and 7290 offices got registered under LITES.

Challenges:

Integration with all different courts & mandatory entry / updates by all stakeholders posed as a challenge. 

Innovation:

LITES is one of the State-wide implemented application with stakeholders till the lower-level offices of the state.

Opportunities:

Plans are to integrate with other departments’ applications i.e. IFMS, Pension, RajKaj etc. Upgradation of application with new technology will also be done.

Summary:

Litigation Information Tracking and Evaluation System (LITES) has been implemented for Justice department to improve the management of litigation. To supervise litigation of all the departments of Government of Rajasthan pending before different courts in which State Government is a party and to improve the efficiency, transparency and accountability for expeditious disposal of the pending litigation cases of the Government Departments.
