Upgradation of Naini-Saini Airport
Problem
- Working in harsh climatic, hilly and remote area conditions.
- Local hindrance by local people in terms of land acquisition.
- Difficult site terrain and limited approach to carry construction materials.
- Long approval time for various decisions like underpass, boundary wall etc.
- Due to the extreme distance from the rail head and the high Himalayan region, materials were not available.
Solution
- Initially problem assessment was done and a detailed project report was formed.
- Construction as per the provision of DPR has been done.
- With proper planning and as per norms site constructions were started.
- Construction of Apron and Taxiway.
- Construction of Peripheral Road, RCC Boundary Wall and Retaining Wall.
Outcomes
- This project has provided proper landing of planes for both commercial and defence purposes.
- This Project has provided runway lighting for the night landing of planes.
- This project provided transportation and other medical facilities to local people.
- From the security point of view, the said Airport is used extensively by the Indian Army
- This Airport has become very important from a tourism point of view
