Providing Benefits to Milk Producers
Problem
- No prompt payment of bills to rural women milk producers.
- Inadequate price for the production of milk per liter.
- The high purchasing cost of feed and fodder for cattle.
- Lack of education and training for SHG women for improving the output.
- Lack of collaboration with other departments.
Solution
- Offering a fair market price to milk producers by the formation of cooperative societies.
- Creating livelihood activities for rural women by linking innovative government schemes.
- Monitoring the bill payments to milk producers as per schedule.
- Strengthening Mandal Samakhya and Zilla Samakhya.
- Creating online platforms for monitoring milk procurement activities and increasing production.
Outcomes
- Creation of 76 Bulk Milk Cooling Units with over 45,000 rural SHG women.
- Generating employment to 371 SHG women as BMCU employees.
- Procurement of 3.02 lakh liters from SHG women procuring centers.
- An increase in family-owned businesses by women.
- Strengthening of Mandal Samakhyas by collecting cooling charges for BMCUs and Zilla Samakhyas.
