Swarna Naravaripalli – District Collectorate Tirupati

 SWARNA NARAVARIPALLI

Problem

  • Heavy reliance on conventional power sources with high carbon emissions.
  • Absence of decentralized renewable energy infrastructure in rural gram panchayats.
  • Lack of public awareness and adoption of sustainable consumption practices.
  • Vulnerability to grid instability and rising energy costs.
  • Limited examples of community-led Net-Zero energy transitions in rural areas.

Solution

  • Deployed rooftop solar panels in saturation mode across three Gram Panchayats.
  •  Muft Bijli Yojana to fund and scale implementation.
  • Engaged seven agencies for fast-tracked installation and grid synchronisation.
  • Undertook community engagement to create awareness about sustainability and responsible consumption.
  • Enabled District Collector-led coordination for seamless inter-departmental convergence.

Outcomes

  • 100% of households in three Gram Panchayats have converted to solar-powered homes.
  • Expected generation of 48 lakh electricity units per year.
  • Reduction of 4,500 metric tons of CO2 annually, equivalent to the absorption capacity of 2.04 lakh trees.
  • Model village for Net-Zero transition with potential for statewide replication.
  • Positive behavioural shift among residents towards eco-friendly practices.
