Adolescent Empowerment & Ending Child Marriage
Nomination
- Lack of self-confidence among the adolescent rescued from child marriage, elopement and trafficking.
- After prevention, no follow-up and no proper rehabilitation were undertaken in child marriage cases.
- No appropriate analysis of the condition of the family and children was done.
- The family was losing wealth, the children were deprived of education and faced social and psychological pressures from family and community.
Achievements
- Developed a Standard Operating Procedure (SoP) to bring those vulnerable adolescents into the mainstream by leveraging them with different schemes/programs.
- Monthly review meetings of mentors have been conducted regularly under the chairmanship of the district collector.
- Organised mentorship programme and physical verification of the situation in coordination with the village-level child welfare & protection committee.
- A senior officer is assigned to children with the objective of building their trust, and self-confidence and linking them to appropriate schemes and programmes.
