Problem
- A wide gap between patients who need transplants and the organs available.
- Awareness about organ donation is very less.
- Only a few hospitals in the main cities can perform organ transplants.
- Making available brain death certificates in all medical colleges of Rajasthan.

Solution
- Conducting awareness programs in various colleges and institutes.
- Establishing four NTORC.
- Ajmer, Jodhpur, Bikaner, Udaipur and Jodhpur are working as NTORC.
- Establishing SOTTO center in SMS Medical College, Jaipur.
- For awareness purposes SOTTO, Rajasthan conducts awareness programs in various colleges and institutes.
Challenges
- Spreading awareness about organ donation among society and medical as well as paramedical staff.
- Lack of proper infrastructure.
- Increasing the number of brain death certifications.
- Increasing the number of transplants and non-transplant centers.
- Brain death certification committees in all medical colleges of Rajasthan should be available.
Outcomes
- SOTTO center has been established in SMS Medical College.
- Five Government medical colleges turn into Non-Transplant Organ Retrieval Centres after the establishment of SOTTO.
- Cadaver donations and transplants to needy patients have been increased.
- 5 Government medical colleges turn into Non-Transplant Organ Retrieval Centers after the establishment of SOTTO, Rajasthan.
- 49 Cadaver Donations, 89 Kidney, 42 livers, 14 corneas, 24 hearts, 2 heart valves and skin, 4 Lungs, and 1 pancreas have been transplanted to needy patients.

Organ Donation and Transplantation Program
Introduction
There is a wide gap between patients who need transplants and the organs available in India. To fill the gap between the demand and supply of organs Government of Rajasthan and the Rajasthan Network for organ sharing started the cadaver organ donation and transplantation program in 2015.
Problem
There was a wide gap between patients who need transplants and the organs available. Also, there was a lack of awareness about organ donation. On the other hand, only a few hospitals in the main cities can perform organ transplants.
Solution
An awareness program was conducted in various colleges and institutes. Four NTORC were also established. Ajmer, Jodhpur, Bikaner, Udaipur and Jodhpur are working as NTORC. Likewise, SOTTO centers were also established in SMS Medical College, Jaipur.
Outcomes
Five Government medical colleges were turned into Non-Transplant Organ Retrieval Centres after the establishment of SOTTO. There has been an increase in Cadaver donations and transplants to needy patients.
Challenges
It was a challenge to spread awareness about organ donation among society and medical as well as paramedical staff. It was also challenging to increase the number of transplants and non-transplant centers.
Innovation
Making available brain death certification committees in all medical colleges of Rajasthan was an innovation. Likewise, increasing the number of organ donations is an innovative aspect of this project.
Opportunities
Plans are to establish more transplant and innovation centers. There are also plans to introduce the importance of organ donation in the secondary and upper secondary levels syllabus.
Summary
To fill the gap between the demand and supply of organs, the Government of Rajasthan and the Rajasthan network for organ sharing started the cadaver organ donation and transplantation program.
