Establishment of the Centre for Bioresources and Sustainable Development

Nomination

  • Lack of proper infrastructure and skilled human resources for harnessing bioresources of Arunachal Pradesh.
  • Scarcity of livelihood generation avenues for the local populace.
  • Lack of structured strategies for conservation measures for Rare, Endangered species of Indigenous rice, medicinal plants, etc.
  • Lack of structured strategies for scientific validation and certification of Indigenous Knowledge System (IKS).

Achievements

  • Economic benefits to IKS-owning Community-Based Organizations (CBOs).
  • Creation of infrastructure (building and campus) with laboratories.
  • Setting up of Automated Orchidarium, Automated Green House, etc.
  • The awareness/training programme reached out to more than 5000 beneficiaries.
