Problem
- Data inconsistency on different platforms.
- No single system for monitoring major projects.
- Need to access multiple websites for seeking Government information online.
- Absence of proper online platform for Government announcements/decisions/directions.
- Forcing the user to personally visit the concerned office frequently for seeking relevant information.
Solution
- Bringing all Government entities online through a single portal.
- Enabling auto-generation of various websites of the Government bodies.
- Enabling various stakeholders to have role-based access to update relevant information online.
- Introduction of an integrated platform called ‘Jankalyan’ for dissemination of public information.
- Facilitating monitoring of projects, schemes/services, etc. on different parameters thereby supporting management in decision-making.
Outcomes
- A total of 14.2 lakh people have benefited from this initiative so far.
- The Jankalyan Unified Portal has brought various other portals into existence.
- This unified portal has also enabled effective monitoring by senior officials.
- Dynamic creation of forms with no efforts for development/maintenance.
- The addition of any number of sections on the home page is made possible.

Exploring Technology for Good Governance
Introduction:
Jankalyan is a centralized portal for all the departments & districts for updating the information under various modules through role based access. The portal can be accessed through www.jankalyan.rajasthan.gov.in which is available in both Hindi & English.
Problem:
Data inconsistency on different platforms posed as a problem before the introduction of Jankalyan portal. Also there was no single system for monitoring major projects. People were forced to visit multiple websites for seeking Government information online. Additionally, there was also an absence of proper online platform for Government announcements/decisions/directions.
Solution:
Introduction of an integrated platform called ‘Jankalyan’ for dissemination of public information of all Government departments through a single platform. Likewise, enabling auto-generation of various websites of the Government bodies.
Outcomes:
A total of 14.2 lakh people have benefited from this initiative so far. Also, the Jankalyan Unified Portal have brought various other portals into existence.
Challenges:
Seeking approvals from appropriate levels was in itself a challenging task. Also, taking requirements from the stakeholders and designing a common system for all posed as a challenge.
Innovation:
The portal enables the addition of any number of sections on the home page. It has also enabled dynamic creation of forms with no efforts for development/maintenance.
Opportunities:
Plans are to add more templates along with additional new features. Also, websites of Government entities in Rajasthan will be developed through Jankalyan Portal.
Summary:
Jankalyan is a centralized portal for all the departments & districts of Rajasthan for updating the information under various modules through role based access. The portal is completely dynamic with an additional facility of updating section on the front end from admin panel with no extra efforts on coding.
