Actionable Intelligence for Sustainable Traffic Management
Problem
- Severe traffic congestion due to outdated systems and a lack of real-time data integration.
- Incident detection delays and poor emergency coordination prolonged response times.
- Limited preparedness for managing large-scale public events caused gridlocks.
- Absence of data-driven enforcement tools and centralised traffic analytics.
- Low citizen trust due to weak communication, feedback, and transparency mechanisms.
Solution
- Developed mobile apps, a WhatsApp chatbot, and a unified web portal with multilingual support
- Launched Mitra Vaani, a voice-based service for differently-abled citizens to access information easily
- Introduced paperless Rent Management and Tenement Transfer systems for efficient and traceable applications
- Enabled appointment scheduling, project-affected person (PAP) tracking, and QR-based service access
- Uploaded 4.68 crore documents online, ensuring citizens can access key information without formal RTI requests
Outcomes
- Over 5 lakh external beneficiaries used the digital platforms effectively, showing a strong digital transition
- Physical footfall at SRA offices has significantly reduced, indicating a successful online shift
- Rent and transfer requests are processed more quickly due to system automation
- Citizens reported greater satisfaction due to real-time tracking and reduced bureaucratic friction
- SRA won First Prize in Government of Maharashtra’s “100 Days Programme” among 95 departments
