- Andhra Pradesh is experiencing a sharp rise in Non-Communicable Diseases, with NCDs accounting for nearly 60 percent of the disease burden in the state.
- Increasing incidence of cancer and cardiovascular diseases has strained the public health system and increased out-of-pocket expenditure for households.
- Preventive healthcare practices were not institutionalised at scale across schools, communities, and workplaces.
- Limited availability of trained yoga professionals restricted the regular adoption of yoga as a preventive health practice.
- Absence of a unifying, large-scale public movement to promote yoga as a daily wellness habit across diverse population groups.
Achievements
- Registration of 2.44 crore citizens, exceeding the initial target of 2 crore participants.
- Creation of 1.44 lakh certified yoga trainers and 5,451 master trainers across the state.
- Training of 60 lakh students in the Common Yoga Protocol through the school education system.
- Successful organisation of a 26.3 km yoga corridor in Visakhapatnam with participation of 3.01 lakh people.
- Achievement of 2 Guinness World Records and 21 World Book of Records, enhancing global visibility of the state.
