Checkdams constructed under MATY scheme helps improving water table around the state of Odisha. Which helped thousands of farmers to easily irrigate there land by lift irrigation using ground water or water stored near checkdams. Also helped horticulture to flourish near checkdams.

Check Dams are the backbones for farmers of water deficiency area for irrigation,and facing non-uniform and uneven rain on there region.Though Check dams are early made for hold the water and to help in recharge of ground water ,after that on addition to the purpose of Check dams farmers are getting there crop irrigated either by lift from storage of checkdams or directly flow through cada canal from Check dams.So MATY is a very successful scheme for construction of Checkdam,which is directly benifit to the fields of farmers near by the Check dams.Inturns it is also helping in minimizing the drought conditions in rain scarcity area.
