RAKSHAK – Chhattisgarh State Commission for Protection of Child Rights

RAKSHAK
Nomination
- A lack of comprehensive expertise in child rights protection, caused by fragmented training, high professional burnout, and institutional pipelines that fail to adapt to evolving modern threats.
- The exclusion of youth from child rights protection, which creates an adult-centric blind spot, misses peer-level insights into digital threats, and fails to build future advocates.
- No course on the protection of child rights was being offered by any university in the state of Chhattisgarh.
- Traditional Master of Social Work (MSW) courses fail the true essence of child protection by teaching generalised welfare and charity models rather than rights-based frameworks.
- Facing the practical challenge of listing and structuring all relevant child rights laws and issues into a single, sequential academic format.
Achievements
- Designing a comprehensive course curriculum that can be readily opted into by any university to build a legally grounded human resource pipeline
- Restructuring the approach to get well-versed, educated, and sensitive young persons into the protection of child rights by providing them direct roles.
- Partnering with 6 prominent universities (3 government and 3 private) in Chhattisgarh to roll out a specialised Post Graduate Diploma in Child Rights & Protection (PGDPCR).
- Mandating a specialised, multidisciplinary curriculum that integrates deep theoretical and legal knowledge, state and central government schemes, and hands-on practical work.
- Listing all pertaining laws and issues systematically to prepare a pre-drafted Diploma Course, facilitating a hassle-free approach for participating universities.
