Social Media – Bank of Maharashtra

Social Media
Problem
- Traditional banking communication relied on listing scheme features, failing to connect with real customer pain points or everyday scenarios.
- Lack of regional and cultural resonance limited engagement across India’s linguistically diverse audiences.
- Financial literacy gaps persisted due to complex banking concepts being communicated in technical formats.
- Younger digital-native audiences, especially Gen-Z, remained disengaged from conventional banking content.
- Social media was underutilised as an interactive service touchpoint, restricting trust-building and two-way engagement.
Solution
- Comprehensive creative rebranding to establish a distinct, recognisable social media identity for the bank.
- Development of animated and story-driven content formats to simplify banking concepts and promote financial literacy.
- Launch of cyber awareness initiatives using relatable narratives and practical digital safety tips.
- Extensive use of regional languages, including Hindi and multiple state languages, to ensure cultural relevance and inclusivity.
- Adoption of innovative formats such as shoot-based videos and generative AI–driven animation to sustain engagement.
Outcomes
- Achieved second position among Public Sector Banks in total social media followers by September 2025.
- Significant increase in visibility and recall through consistent branding and creative storytelling.
- Enhanced reach across diverse markets through regional language campaigns and digital advertisements.
- Improved customer access to banking information and query resolution through active social media engagement.
- Recognition of the bank’s social media platforms as educational, trusted, and customer-centric digital spaces.
