UmedMart : E-Marketplace for SHG Women’s Products – Maharashtra State Rural Livelihood Mission

UmedMart: E-Marketplace for SHG Women’s Products
Problem
- SHG women lacked access to profitable markets, reducing sales and income.
- Traditional supply chains and intermediaries suppressed price realization.
- Limited digital literacy and absence of an organised online channel restricted reach.
- Poor packaging, inconsistent quality, and weak branding reduced competitiveness.
- Market fragmentation prevented statewide product visibility.
Solution
• Designed and launched a statewide e-commerce platform connecting SHGs to wider markets.
• Conducted requirement mapping and upgraded workflows for cataloging, payments, logistics, and India Post integration.
• Rolled out phased testing, capacity building, and district-level training for SHGs.
• Onboarded SHGs across all 36 districts and strengthened B2B linkages.
• Introduced data-driven monitoring, automation, and continuous system optimisation.
Outcomes
• Faster processing and reduced order delays through improved operational workflows.
• Enhanced digital capabilities among SHGs for pricing, listing, and transactions.
• Expanded income opportunities and strengthened women’s economic empowerment.
• Increased access to authentic SHG products for urban consumers.
• Standardised packaging and branding improved market competitiveness.
