CyberShield

Problem

  • Increasing cyber threats to cooperative banks due to limited technical capacity and resource constraints.
  • Lack of a centralized system to monitor and respond to phishing, malware, and network intrusions.
  • Human errors and weak cyber hygiene among staff created internal vulnerabilities.
  • Compliance pressure from RBI/CERT-IN and NPCI on cybersecurity preparedness and audits.
  • Low customer confidence in the security of digital banking services.

Solution

  • Launched a multi-layered cybersecurity initiative integrating firewall upgrades, endpoint security, phishing detection, and 24×7 monitoring.
  • Engaged a CERT-IN empanelled auditor (Mirox Cyber Security) for a comprehensive Information Security Audit and VAPT.
  • Conducted mandatory training on cyber hygiene for 100% staff
  • Created a board-approved Cyber Security Policy aligned with RBI guidelines and CERT-IN best practices.
  • Introduced phishing simulations, vulnerability scans, and logging tools to detect and respond to threats in real-time.

Outcomes

  • Zero cyber incidents were reported during the evaluation period (Feb–May 2025).
  • All systems across branches secured with firewall and endpoint protection layers.
  • Successfully passed VAPT audit with certificate issued on 24 April 2025.
  • Organizational cyber hygiene significantly improved, including senior leadership.
  • Positioned as a replicable cybersecurity model for small cooperative banks across India.
