Problem

  • Effects of Dust exposure on workers at mines by regular survey and medical examination. 
  • Noise-induced hearing impairments by noise survey and taking suitable measures. 
  • Eye refraction and eye tests of employees and nearby villagers by proper medical check-ups. 
  • Mineral conservation, environmental protection by adopting proper dump management, environmental management
  • Conducting risk management studies and preparing safety management plans.

Solution

  • Regular health checkups of all the workers exposed to dust and dust suppressor implantation. 
  • Reclamation and rehabilitation works including constructing of retaining wall around the mines.
  • Identifying the hazards, in each activity of the operation and estimating the likelihood and severity. 
  • Coir matting and plantation along the dump slopes for dump stabilisation. 
  • Regular health checkups of all the workers exposed to noise, and regular maintenance of machinery to avoid noise.

Outcomes

  • Improvement of workplace and work environment in the mines.
  • Health, involvement and motivation of all the workers in the mines. 
  • Reduction in accidents and working towards zero harm to workers in the mines. 
  • Medical reimbursement is provided to every employee. 
  • Required PPE are provided to every employee.
