Digitalizing Agricultural Practices

Problem

  • Delayed data availability hampers timely interventions and efficient resource allocation.
  • Manual crop surveys based on subjective estimations lead to inaccuracies and variations in data.
  • Data collection, compilation, and analysis processes caused delays in obtaining and accessing critical information.
  • Field visits, manual data collection, and paperwork are time-consuming and resource-intensive.
  • Human errors in data collection, transcription, and analysis resulted in unreliable information.

Solution

  • Obtaining land details from the Web Land Database and Cultivator Details from the CCRC Database.
  • Identification of Farmers by field level staff and crop booking using mobile app in both offline and online mode.
  • SMS notifications and signed physical acknowledgement to farmers on the crop booking details.
  • Locking based on crop sown date and crop period avoids multiple crop bookings on the same field.
  • Sharing of crop booking details to procurement agencies through APIs and to the PMFBY portal on the notified crops.

Outcomes

  • Negated the farmer’s movement from Pillar to post to avail himself of the benefits of the farmer welfare schemes.
  • Farmers’ data, along with crop details and extent, is maintained at the village level through Village Agriculture Assistants.
  • Enumeration of crop damages could be done in a short time with the available digitised crop-sown data.
  • Captured standing crop details along with land particulars with Latlongs, geo-tagging and photographs.
  • Facilitated positioning of the required quantities of Agri and allied sector inputs at the village level prior.
