National Agriculture Market (e-NAM)
Problem
- Reaching out to farmers residing in remote areas of Odisha
- Ensuring sampling and quality assaying of the agricultural produce
- Storage issues face by the farmers for the harvested produce
- Lack of need based infrastructure along with processing units for different categories of agricultural produce
- Need for a unified national market for agricultural commodities.
Solution
- Implemented Unified licensing system to enable the traders to participate in electronic trading anywhere in the state.
- Implemented Single Point levy of Market fee which cannot be repeated in any other market area.
- Facilitated satellite mandis, concessional transport, price dissemination through price display boards and set up of model manis run by SHG unit.
- Engaged third party service providers and rented out Go-downs to FPOs/SHGs with fee waiver for storing their produce
- Integrated Packhouse & Onion Storage Structure to be set up in different Districts under the able guidance of District Collectors.
Outcomes
- Remunerative Price is ensured for the farmers and they are able to know about quality of their produce
- More than 330000 Farmers have been registered under e-NAM and more than 8000 traders and 400 FPOs are registered.
- Market information regarding Price/Arrival of all major Indian Mandis is provided on real-time basis
- Buyers get quality produce at proper price in a single place without depending upon middlemen
- The transaction in e-NAM has influenced other markets to follow e-Payment mode and take the e-NAM price as base price.
